About Half-Note Transcriptions
HNT was founded by Joey Kincer, a long-time pianist and Advanced Theory musician. He began studying piano in 1981 (before the age of 4), learning an abundance of technique and theory during his years of classical training. Starting at such a young age, the valuable asset of Perfect Pitch was attained along the way.
In 1991, Joey began playing for various church services, weddings, and other events. He was also introduced to the world of MIDI and electronic notation while enrolled in a specialized high school music class. Over the next few years, he learned to efficiently transcribe music at an increasingly rapid pace.
In 1995, Joey was involved with piano accompaniment in musical theatre, all the while taking advanced theory college classes and perfecting the art of writing music with professional notation software. He was already working to transcribe and transpose music on an individual basis. It was then decided to make a profession out of it, hence the birth of Half-Note Transcriptions in 1997.
HNT became a subsidiary of Kinless Enterprises in 2001.
